The above was said somewhat facetiously, and with a bit of a grin; but there are elements of truth contained therein.
If anyone is deserving of a tribute, it is the members of the now defunct Hall Of Fame Committee. These are the players that selected the annual Eclipse nominations; horses deserving of election to the SIM Hall Of Fame and a sub-committee attempting to provide a 'second sober look' at older horses that were not elected the first time around.
Good fun, kept everybody off the street and out of the bars.
