This Equinics race is named for Techranger�s Irish Memory by the Ireland Rez. Techranger was a long time Sim Trainer who added much to the game and retired this past year and is sorely missed. It makes this race even more prestigious with his honored name on the race. It is because of his name that I chose to write up this race. You can check out his website here: SonRays
This is always one of my favorite groups of horses in the Sim, the young colt turfers. I love to watch them early in their careers then follow them through the Breeders Bowl and Horse of the Year vote and on to their later campaigns where some of them seem to blossom late. We have a large field but are missing a couple of horses that were qualified in MOUNT A STAR of the Queensland Rez and CHATEAU DUPLESSIS from the Alpine Turf Club. This is a particularly talented group and this race should be very close and hard to handicap. There are four horses listed as co-favorite by the morning line but in my estimation several others that could be in the mix. This should be a tremendous race and I can�t wait to see it so let�s take a look:

( DANEHILL DANCER (IRE) x COZZENE x DYNAFORMER out of ZOOK SPUR) This gorgeous charcoal colored colt has been hot and improving lately for the Hollandia Stables. He has won four of his last six although two of those were on off tracks and it appears that the weather will be cool and dry this weekend. His last race was his life best SPF with a quick 103 when he won the G3 Panhandle Derby which was also his first run at nine panels. He has one of the best jockeys available in Duffy who isn�t slowing down in his 22nd year of racing. This colt is a deep closer so he will have to go around a few horses from this inside post but he should be in the mix at the end.

( DYNAFORMER x UNBRIDLED'S SONG x DIXIELAND BAND out of SONG OF THE SOUTH) A winner of three of his five starts this roan colt has been flying for the Desperado Stables. He is another that loves the off track but won�t get to run in the mud here. He�s never finished below third in a race and won the G1 Futurity last time out although that was on an off track and this colt has never run more than a mile and a sixteenth. If trainer AA can get him stretched out here he could compete especially with one of the all time best jockeys Gossett in the irons. This could be a very tough team.

( GALILEO (IRE) x SEEKING THE GOLD x STORM CAT out of BURLADA) One of the four Morning Line co-favorites, this nicely bred colt has been prepared for this distance and surface since birth by the Rafa Stables. He has shown tremendous consistency and nice improvement especially in his past few races. He went over 9 furlongs last time out for the first time and had a strong close for fourth place. He won a Graded three back and could make some noise here. One problem is the choice of Huey holding the reins. With all of the jockey talent in this race, you are looking at a jockey with only one win on the season. Hopefully this colt can overcome that.

( JOHANNESBURG x CAPOTE x GONE WEST out of CHIPOTLE) I love this colt�s name and he has shown nice improvement in his five races for the Big Oil Conglomerate Stables of Lord Pye. He hasn�t shown the speed to compete with this crew but hasn�t run over a mile yet and if he likes it he could post a big number here. He has lightly used but solid jockey Haffner in the leather and this is an unranked colt that could surprise here.

( BEAT HOLLOW (GB) x IN THE WINGS(GB) x DANZIG out of COUNT DRACULA) This colt from the Elite Racing Stables has won three of his last four although they were all Allowance races and his lone Stakes race in that stretch he finished third with an 85 SPF. He will definitely need a bump in speed to compete here although it will help having jockey Brewer and his gaudy stats in the saddle. He should be just behind the leaders at the top of the stretch and if he can pull out a stretch run he could be in the mix.

( DEEP IMPACT x MR. PROSPECTOR x STORM CAT out of KITTY KAT) This lightly raced Japanese chestnut colt comes in here on a hot streak with two in a row including the Fusaichi Magpie Stakes last time out with a solid 98 SPF. Coming out the of Gipper Stables and trained by Gipper2, this colt has always been on the grass and has won three of five. He made a big jump in his first race of this year and might be ready for a huge three year old campaign. The DEEP IMPACT offspring could really like this distance and surprise some folks here although I wish that he had one of the more successful jockeys as Jones has only one win on the year. An interesting horse to watch.

INDY out of INDYBADSTORM) A lightly raced colt out of Karie�s Super Stables, this NORTH LIGHT offspring has never run faster than an 82 SPF but hasn�t yet raced as a three year old. He has had a substantial layoff since the beginning of December and it will be interesting to see if he is race ready for this one. He has a great jockey in the irons in Wallace and he will wring everything this colt has during the race. He�s never finished below second so trainer OnTheLine would love to see that streak continue.

( BIG BROWN x ALJABR x LINE IN THE SAND) When trainer Waybil and the At The Wire Thoroughbred Stables moved this BIG BROWN colt to a mile last time out he made a big jump to an 86 SPF and an easy win. If he can make a similar jump here moving to nine and a half panels he could be in the mix. He has a solid jockey in Cadigan and that could help as well. He is getting no love from the Morning Line but it looks as if this colt may be better than advertised.

( ARCH x PULPIT x MACHIAVELLIAN out of SEGURA) Four back the Rafa Stables which has two entries into this race moved this colt to the grass and he took off winning three in a row before finishing third last time out in the Fusaichi Magpie Stakes where he lost to another entrant in this race TONGUSKA. He likes the front end and will have to go to get there from this post. It won�t help that lightly used jockey BrienO� is guiding and may be the biggest drawback for his team as he is still looking for his first win of the year.

(DYNAFORMER x VICTORY GALLOP x EL PRAD O(IRE) out of +INTRUDER) After starting on the clay, the Super Stables moved this guy to the grass and he won three of his first five including two Stakes outings. Since then he fell back with two rear of the pack finishes and sub 76 SPFs. I�m sure that this team would love to see this colt get it back together here and solidify his top 50 ranking. He has won from both a stalking style as well as a deep closer. He has a nice looking jockey up in Darling and if anyone can get this colt back on track, the combination of him and the Super Stables can.

( ZABEEL(NZ) x SUMMER SQUALL x RAISE A NATIVE out of STING JUMPING) Although this chestnut colt looks as if he can win at any time proven by his three of six and Graded and Stakes wins, it appears that he seems to take off a couple of races after a win in his past history. He won the last time out with a sizzling 102 SPF rather easily in a listed Stakes and trainer NewCEO and the Whisper Stable have to wonder if he will put forth that big effort again here. It will help that they have one of the seasons hottest jockeys holding the reins in Osbourne and this could be one of the come from behind horses in the stretch.

( STREET HERO x GRAND LODGE (IRE) x SHARPEN UP(GB)) Since his third race of his career last summer, this chestnut colt has been on some tear, never finishing lower than fourth and contending in three Graded races. He his a triple figure SPF with a 100 in his only race at this distance and could be a real contender here. Trainer KeishaMay and the Pride of Colac Stables have to have high hopes for this colt coming into this race and it will certainly help that they have chosen jockey Shoemaker who has carried on a famous name with a nice 23 year career that always seems to finish near the top of the rankings. This could very well be a big winner for the Comedy Central group at these Equinics.

( RED CLUBS x GALILEO (IRE) x THE MINSTREL) out of IRISH RENAISSANCE) This colt has been showing tremendous improvement since last fall for the Infinity Farms stables and even made a nice jump in SPF last time out on an off track. He seems to like a bit more distance and his front running style will keep him from getting tangled up in the large field here. He has a really nice jockey in the leather in Fendlay and this Irish bred colt could be a surprise coming down the stretch if he can hold off the late charge.

( DYNOMANIA x UNBRIDLED'S SONG x ALYDAR out of SINGFORTHEMOMENT) No matter what the competition, you can�t dismiss six wins in nine tries and that is the record of this pretty cream colored colt. He capped off his last year with a near miss second place finish at DelPenn for the Worldwide Stables. That race was at six furlongs and there has to be some worries that this colt may prefer the shorter distances although he has won at a mile as well. There is also a worry that jockey Farley may be more of an anchor than a guide as he is still looking for his first win of the year. Lots of questions that will be answered in a big way if this colt can pull out the win.

( AFTER MARKET x GHOSTZAPPER x SEEKING THE GOLD out of TROPICAL SPIRITS) I think that there are a few ghosts on Wall Street in NYC but this guy has looked like a prized stockbroker with six times on the board in nine races. He�s run well on both surfaces but is still looking for that elusive first Stakes win. Part of the DixieDotCo Racing Stables, this colt has come along nicely and may be ready to break out here. He likes to run from the back half and this post won�t hurt that. He has an excellent jockey on his back in McCoy and a bit of a bump in SPF could get this colt into the mix coming down the stretch with his late closing style.

( MEDAGLIA D'ORO x KRIS S. x DANEHILL) Five races with four wins and a near miss second for this pretty light grey colt. As usual with the Empire Stables, they start them late in the two year old campaign and they usually come on like gangbusters. Trainer Lenny has seen his colt win a G3 and listed Stakes and has a chance to make a huge splash here. He likes to run mid pack and finish strong and should have plenty left for the stretch in this one. McClendon is in the irons and has a great record with these young colts and can do nothing but help here. I always hate to bet against Lenny this time of year and this colt could surprise.

GREELEY x UNBRIDLED) Our only filly in this race, this gal has run very consistently but this will be her first effort against the boys and she will have to bump up her SPFs to compete here. The Kiddman Stables are hoping for a big jump here that could help her once she gets back against the ladies too. They have solid jockey Bauder in the saddle and he will have to watch the pace of this girl to make sure she has something left at the end.

( DEXTERITY x RAINBOW QUEST x MACHIAVELLIAN out of RAINBOW RULER II) Owner DonnyBeisbol doesn�t like to be told that he can�t do something and this colt is a perfect example. The lightly raced colt has won both of his races and showed tremendous improvement from the first to the second. It has been said that you can�t win an Equinics race without previous Stakes experience but owner and colt would beg to differ. He likes to run just off of the lead and that could be tough from this way outside post but they have a top jockey up in Ridenour and he should be able to thread this colt through the mix to the front. It would be quite a story to see a win here and it is not out of the realm of possibilities. Morning Line = 2-3-11-12-6

As with any Equinics race, you usually have a big mix of talent in a big field. That may be the case here but I believe that this field is closer than some folks think. I like JUMPING DOWN to be in the mix but would like to see a bit more consistency from him. I have STREETS OF COLAC in my top three and he could very well end up standing in the winner�s circle much to the delight of the Comedy Central Rez. If this were going to be a rainy weekend, I would probably choose THAT LONESOME SONG to win with his talent but on a dry track I am going to give the nod to long shot SPUR'S DANCER who seems to have all of the pieces ready to fit together and win this prestigious race.
