THE OHIO LUCK 8 furlongs on dirt for all fillies 3 years old
1. The entry from Benelux residency is the zeco9 trained Oilily Jaycee. This filly is by Medicean out of the sim mare Wondergirl Candida. Her mom is by Deputy Minister out of a Raise a Native mare. She has produced some very nice allowance runners. She has never won a route race but has won 3 allowances moving her through all her conditions as an allowance runner. She has brilliant speed breaking 90 twice as a two year old and she has tried one route. She went 8.5 furlongs in the G3 Mistaken Soda Identity stakes, she finished mid pack but it wasnt a good test. Hopefully she will like a mile and improve here today.
2. The representative from Minnesota Downs is the #1 ranked CK Blurred Cat. Trained by Docoz this Giants Causeway filly needs little introduction as the 2009 Eclipse winner for 2 year old filly on dirt. She is out of a Distorted Humor by Deputy Minister mare. She Won the Breeders Bowl Filly Juvenile, The G1 Frickzee stakes. She is 4 for 4 going route, speeds impressive again not much to say. The only thing that can beat this filly is herself. One mark is that her last two races have been 8.5 furlongs not a mile. She is tough so it should not matter but some fillies dont like dropping back. Either way I dont think it will matter much. Won her last 4 races with a combined 7 3/4ths lead, basically she won with ease yet to be fully challenged. Good luck to all of us running against her.
3. The King Kong Racing Club entry is the putter entry Broken Key. This homebred filly is by Broken Vow out of a Roberto by Key to the Mint mare. Though this mare doesnt have quite the record the others have she has faced tougher competition twice as often. Having broken her maiden at first asking she was sent against the tough competition strait out. She then won a stakes in her third start and has been in graded competition every start. She finished 3rd in her last two starts where she posted good speeds and went routes. Might I suggest turf at some point for this filly, be very curious I think she would like it a lot. But she finished 3rd going 8.5 furlongs and I am guessing she will like the mile distance better. Her speeds show she is good and ready for this race.
4. The OHIO entry Janey Dont Lose is trained by redturkey2. This filly is by Hard Spun out of the Elkana mare that is by Unbridleds Song out of a Beat Hallow mare. Made a brief test at turf where she won a race but has been far more successful on dirt. She is 3 for 4 on routes and her only loss came in the G1 Movieland Starlet where she finished 4th and closing. She posted a 91 speed for that effort. She has raced once since then in an off track turf allowance where she competed in stakes competition and finished poorly showing turf is not her favorite. She has won 1 stakes going a mile where she posted an 88 speed and finished well. But her other stakes attempts show she is talented and she can do it if she improves just a bit.
5. Representing the Vermont Residency, trained by catamount1 is Sky House a daughter of Sky Mesa out of the mare Dolls House (Smart Strike X A.P. Indy). Dolls House was a 2 times stakes winner and her daughter is a stakes winner herself. However, the most impressing thing about this filly is her record, 9 races 6 wins and one third. She is 3 for 4 going routes, and her mile race that she lost was just too early and when asked to go a mile end of the 2 year old season she loved it. She has broken the 90 speed barrier with two 91s and a 92. Her best race was an 8.5 stakes race against 4 other horses that were not stakes placed. She has yet to beat a stakes winner but her winning style says otherwise.
6. Representing the North West Racing Circuit is the crandy trained Riva. She is by Flower Alley out of a Riva Ride by Round Table mare. She has 8 starts to her name but only broke her maiden 3 starts ago in her first route start. She went 9 furlongs in that maiden race then entered an allowance race going a mile where she won with a career best 82 speed and by 2 lengths. Giving her trainer enough confidence to try her in the G1 Movieland Starlet next time out where she finished poorly but had excuses. Her speed will need to increase to win here but she has run best at a mile so should love the distance.
7. The EAAA entry is the supapogs2 trained Soulseeking. Soulseeking is by Awesome Again out of the sim horse Storm Dancing. Storm Dancing is by Empire Maker out of a Storm Cat mare. Soulseeking broke her maiden 4 starts ago going 7 furlongs. She then made three starts going route and the first one showed promise even though she finished 4th she had been closing well. Her next start against tougher company had her winning an allowance going a mile and one sixteenth with a 93 speed and by almost 2 lengths. Her first and only start as a 3 year old has her trying stakes competition going 9 furlongs. She managed to close for third and post an 87 speed. The way she ran suggests the race was just too long for her. She will love this shorter distance.
8. Representing Comedy Central is the goldsmith trained Causeway Queen. This filly is by Giants Causeway out of the mare That Smarts. This 2 times stakes place mom has only one offspring. So far Causeway Queen is also stakes placed but she looks to do more here. She has only 4 starts but speeds have increased with distance. Her most recent race she ran 3rd with a 93 speed in a stakes race. She even had to run differently than her normal style. She generally likes to take the lead and try to hold it she didnt get the lead in this race yet managed pass horses to get 3rd. She will need to do well again but she improves almost every start.
9. The Blazing Saddles entry Portrait is trained by toreup. This filly is by Distorted Humor out of the sim horse Picture. Picture was royally bred but had a short and uneventful career. He was by A.P. Indy out of a Storm Cat mare. His only offspring is a graded placed horse and looks to far surpass her he mom. With 5 starts and three wins including an allowance and stakes race this filly is tough. What makes her a threat in this race is her last start where she represented her royally bred pedigree to a tee. She broke well and sat 9th in the G1 Movieland Starlet. Then closed with dynamic force to get 2nd place and posed a 95 speed. She only lost by 3/4ths of a length. I think she will like this mile distance better and she is improving. Watch out she could really take the race.
10. The GR Simsters entry is the lovely filly Got the Goods trained by Lenny18. She is by Ghostzapper out of the mare Speedometer who is by Storm Cat out of a Gone West mare. Her record is 6 races 5 wins and a third. She won her first two races with ease, and then had a troubled trip and finished third going a mile but bounced back after with an allowance win, a restricted stakes win. Then her crowning achievement the G1 Movieland Starlet where she lead the race wire to wire holding off the competition including two other horses that are in this race. She posted 90+ speeds for her last two races and has proven tough, little else to say about this monster.
11. Representing Queensland is the makybe3 trained Realy Greenly Good. This scratch bred filly is by Roses in May our of a Mr. Greenly by Redoubts Choice mare. With this breeding I would assume this filly would love the grass. But she is definitely more interested in the main track. She has competed mainly in sprints and has only one start going a mile where she finished 4th. This does not concern me much most horses are not strong going a mile first time. Her last two races, which are both wins, show that she can handle 7 furlongs. Though both races were short fields she did win a stakes race and ran a 91 speed. Hopefully she can take it up a notch going just a furlong longer.
12. The entry for Midas is the babycolt trained Farewell to Arms. This filly it is no secret she is my horses and I think he very over matched in this race. She is royally bred by Distorted Humor out of the mare Deputy Shmurphy. That mare is by Deputy Minister and out of an A.P. Indy mare. She has produced one graded winner and one stakes winner. This filly is neither yet. She has only tried a route once but it was early in her career and she didnt like it much. Since then she has started in sprints with her last being the most promising and the reason why she is entered. She went 7 furlongs in an open allowance against only 3 other horses but she closed well and looked like she wanted more distance. I dont give her much of a chance here given the competition.
13. The representative from Ireland is the dannejaka3 trained Uno Slew. This filly is out Macho Uno out of the mare Smooth Hill who is by Seattle Slew out of Temperance Hill mare. Smooth Hill has foaled many horses but none have won more than 1 race. Uno Slew looks to break that streak. She broke her maiden two starts ago where she took the lead and held off the closers to get first by 1 length and posted an 81 speed. Her only start as a 3 year old she ran on a sloppy track in an allowance race where she held on for second and posted an 85 speed. Her running style may make it harder for her in this race. She seems happy at this distance but its the only one she has ever run. I would try a sprint or two after this race. But she looks like she could improve as she has in all her starts.
14. The Dell Penn National entry is the trained sdmf2 filly named Realms of Fear. She is the daughter of Value Plus out of the mare What Ive Become who is by Ghostzapper out of a Saint Ballado mare. The mother had a short and uneventful career and her first offspring managed a stakes placing. Realms of Fear has already surpassed her mother and sibling by becoming a G1 placed filly in her last outing going a mile. She posted a 92 speed for that effort and finished after being passed by the winner. Might suggest she would be better going longer. But Captain Awesome who beat here will not be here this time.
15. The East West Coast Connection entry is trained by sjfarms. Her name is Beach Towel and she is scratch bred by More than Ready out of a Machiavellian by Never Bend mare. This mare broke her maiden in a sprint race going 5.5 furlongs. She finished 4th in her next start showing she wanted more distance. She was then increased to 7 then 8 furlongs which she won with ease. She then won the mile and one sixteenth Boca Stakes race. She posted a 97 speed for that effort and proved she belongs in graded competition. She had a small break then tried graded competition in the G3 Santa Jezebel Stakes where she finished 9th by only 4 lengths and I think she will like the shorter distance. Hopefully she has had enough rest that she will be game for this race.
16. The entry from the Great Plains Residency is the tonguetie trained Fire Crown. This filly is uniquely bred and is by Fire Blitz out of the sim mare Luvmybut. It is her only offspring and this filly has already surpassed her mom many times. She has 6 starts and after three starts she finally broke her maiden. Here is the impressive part; since she has broken her maiden she is undefeated. She won the maiden race, and allowance and then the Hunter Green Challenge Stakes race. She has never run a route but the stakes race that she won was 7.5 furlongs and she looked cool and easy at the wire winning by almost two lengths and a lesser speed than her last win. She also broke her maiden going 7.5 if she can handle that extra half a furlong she should have an improving trip.
17. Representing Sim Hispano is the xhaack trained Haacks Brown. This royally scratch bred filly is by Big Brown out of a Mr. Prospector by Northern Dancer mare. With that breeding it is almost no surprise this filly is a runner. She runs very well at a mile to a mile and a sixteenth and I bet she loves a mile and an eighth. She is three for three on routes including two allowance wins and the G3 Reflection futurity where she won easily posting a 95 speed. Tough filly and will be a competitor here today.
18. Representing the Universal Racing Club URC- is the flyingtail trained Devil in NYC. She is a scratch bred filly by Sightseeing out of a Quiet America by Devils Bag mare. She broke her maiden going 6 furlongs on second asking. Her best race to date was an open allowance race going a mile where she won by 1 lengths posting an 82 speed. In that race she beat grade 3 winner Sophie Marceau and stakes winner Sacred Heat. However, when trying graded competition she has had bad performances. Another knock is she has one race this year going 9 furlongs where the race was obviously too much for her and she finished 2nd to last by 23 lengths. Hopefully it was just a bad performance but it echoes some past efforts. Hopefully she bounces back and puts in a big effort here.
Good Luck to all contestants. Keep an eye on Ck Blurred Cat, Portrait, and Got the Goods
