The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is an independent 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and genetic research at leading medical centers worldwide, and increasing public awareness about good breast health.
It is estimated by the American Cancer Society that in 2007 about 178,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed among women in the United States. At this time there are about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
In 2007, ACS estimates that about 40,460 women will die from breast cancer in the United States. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer.
In men, 2,030 new cases are projected in 2007, with 450 deaths
