National Hemophilia Foundation
The National Hemophilia Foundation is dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for bleeding and clotting disorders and to preventing the complications of these disorders through education, advocacy and research.
As a result of efforts at the federal level, millions of dollars of government funds have been devoted to improve medical care, services, education, and safety and surveillance of blood and blood products. NHF was also instrumental in securing passage of the Ricky Ray Hemophilia Relief Fund Act, which provided much-needed compensation to individuals (and their families) who acquired HIV from contaminated clotting factor products. Other efforts have raised awareness of bleeding disorders, protected individuals from discrimination and ensured full access to high-quality care.
