Equinics ASPCA Sprint
18 to Scorch Track in Search of Gold!

By- Socalslew

Equinics ASPCA Sprint

The ASPCA was founded in 1866 as the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere. The Society was formed to alleviate the injustices animals faced then, and we continue to battle cruelty today. Whether its saving a pet who has been accidentally poisoned, fighting to pass humane laws, rescuing animals from abuse or sharing resources with shelters across the country, we work toward the day in which no animal will live in pain or fear.

**********

The best of the Sims veteran sprinters take to the track here, in pursuit of the coveted, Equinics Gold! Will the first under the wire, be the Speedball from Queensland, The Rocket from DelPenn, or the Flash from Rash???Could be one of themor any of the others from this field of 18, traveling 6 panels, around the Vermont Dirt Course!

So sit back, and give these guys about 1:14.8, and youre sure to witness one of the top sprint races of the year!

So, without further ado, lets have a look at how our field shapes up:

PP#1SOBRON(KY)13/1

Trained By: palmisland

Residency: Minnesota

This 4 year old son of Unbridleds Song, boasts some nice speed ratings, yet doesnt show a win for the past 9 months.A repeat of his last performance, where he finished second to a blistering pace, could be good enough to take a piece of this, however, thats a big could, as this field is far stronger than in his last.

Not without a chance for a piece

PP#2APPLES AWESOME(KY)16/1

Trained By: profounds

Residency: Alpine Turf Club

Apples Awesome, our lone filly in this field, certainly has her work cut out for her here! Her last race, an outstanding win in the Our Dancers Bonanza Stakes, could be good enough to beat this field, howeverthat race was against Fillys and Mares, was run over 7 panels, and was run on an off trackall which are favorable conditions to this filly.Unfortunately, she will not see any of those conditions here today.

To snag a piece of this, Apples is going to have to reach down to her core, and pull up all shes gotand then some!

A very nice filly, but probably in a bit over her head here.

PP#3THE BOOM(NZ)13/1

Trained By: ausracing

Residency: Ohio

A pedigree of Zabeel x Gone West x Sadlers Wells, doesnt normally say Dirt Sprinter, but I guess The Boom was out sick the day they taught that!He seems to favor the bit longer, 7-8 furlong distances, where he can efficiently utilize his hard, late kick to his advantage. At this shorter, 6 furlong distance, he will have to fire his engines a bit earlier than normal, and give it all hes got, to get up in time for a piece.

Will likely be seeing some longer distances, following this one.

PP#4VIKING RUSH14/1

Trained By: iant8

Residency: Kentucky Horsemen

This 5 year old son of Selkirk, shows wins in each of his last 3 outings, and 5 wins and a second from his past seven. This is his first dabble against graded company, although his past 3 performances attest to the fact that hes ready for the challenge. If he can keep pace right off the hip of the leader, and if jockey White can keep him out of trouble, he may nab a piece of the trifecta!

I like the steady improvement in his PP lines!Maybe!

PP#5KETCH(KY)9/1

Trained By: bigskyfarm

Residency: Vermont

This 4 year old son of Awesome Again, is currently ranked as the Sims #1 Older Sprinter. He brings 11 wins, $1.22 million in earnings, a host of graded victories, and the fields fastest speed figure(120) to the table. So whats not to like???Well. This is another fellow that appears to do his best running, over a bit longer course, usually 7 7 furlongs. He is another that comes from the clouds in late stretch, so with this shorter than normal distance (for him), adjustments will need to be made, to get him up in time for the wire.

Fortunately for Ketch, sitting in the irons, is W. McClendon, Vermonts perennial meet champion, and if he cant make the necessary adjustments, no one can!

Nice horse, and a major player here.

PP#6KING OF SEASONS(IRE)26/1

Trained By: bluenyello

Residency: Ireland

Bluenyellos colt, seems to be a bit overmatched against these. His last, at 7.5 furlongs, was a nice effort to get up for 2nd, however, that was vs. cheaper company, and it will take far better to do damage against these.More disturbing, is the fact that prior to his last race, he turned in a string of 6 straight stinkers!

I dont think I can tout this one here, but I would like to see him give one a go over the lawn, with that King of Kings blood running in his veins!

Must pass here.

PP#7INTERROGATION(CA)20/1

Trained By: bluetaffy

Residency: Rash

This son of Singletary, has won but one race in the past year, and that was against allowance company. Its struggles against minor stakes company, leave a lot to be desired here. While its true that miracles do happenI just dont see a USA Hockey Team finish here.

Just cant endorse here.

PP#8Ks State Of Mind10/1

Trained By: vertigo2

Residency: Hispano Parlante

Storm Cat x Nijinsky II x Seattle Slew It dont get much better than that!

This 6 year old, vertigo2 trainee, brings to the race, nearly one million dollars in earnings, and a late kick that should put fear into the entire field! The horse is a graded stakes winner, and has placed in graded fields on several occasions.Ks shows wins both at this distance, and over this track.I just cant find anything here, to make me consider leaving him out of my exotics, and maybe then some!

10/1 odds???Might be the best you see on this guy for a while!

PP#9HOLLOW HALO(KY)14/1

Trained By: nextbonus

Residency: Queensland

This 4 year old son of Speightstown, won the Grade 3, Toboggan Handicap a few months back, and is seldom too far away come the wire.Im not sure it hes got quite what its gonna take to capture this one, but if run like all of his past races, hes sure to make himself noticed!

A nice colt, but might be asking a bit too much here.

PP#10WONDERBOY DJ12/1

Trained By: wonder2

Residency: Benelux

$1,837,034 aint no chicken feed!Thats the bankroll that Wonderboy DJ brings to the table today!Nice?Yes, indeed! However most of that figure was amassed during this 6 year olds younger days, as he has only found the winners circle once, in his last 11 races, and that was against allowance company in his last outing.

This fellow is a nice one, but it appears that his most competitive days are now behind him.Unfortunately, must pass here, and hope to find him competing against a bit easier next time out!

#11STARK RAVING OIL(CA)17/1

Trained By: billn

Residency: EWC

This billn trainee, is the second Cal bred in our field today.Nice to see the west coast sires getting into the big race mix!Starkey, comes off of a beautifully run second place finish, in the Grade 1, Smokey Project Memorial.IfJockey, Munoz can get him to take that same form back a half furlong, Starkey may just find himself in the mix, come the wire! This horse doesnt win often, but he always runs with a great deal of heart, and can never be just tossed aside.

Must place in your exotics.

PP#12SALTY TIGER12/1

Trained By: plunk

Residency: Great Plains

Our third contestant, sired by Awesome Again, Salty Tiger is another seasoned veteran that is graded stakes placed. Two races back, Tiger missed by a head, in the Grade 3, Jims BB Sprint. He however, came back and tossed in a stinker vs. minor stakes company.Which Tiger will show up today?Only time will tell!

Nice horse, but I dont like its inconsistency.Kinda like Forrest Gumps Box of Chocolates Ya never know whatcha gonna get!

PP#13ZAMUN(KY)24/1

Trained By: zambaygo

Residency: Northwest Racing Circuit

Not a whole lot to like here about this son of Unbridleds Song.He performs well vs. allowance company, but got crushed last outing, vs. the graded stakes boys.Im kinda expecting much of the same against these.Hey!NRC needed a runner for this race, and they got one!Gotta love the effort, if nothing else!

Unfortunately, must look elsewhere.

PP#14LANNISTER GOLD(KY)9/1

Trained By: grrm

Residency: GR Simsters

This son of Forestry, has hit the board in 19 of his 21 sprint races, including 10 wins!In his last 8 races, he presents 5 wins, 2 places, and a show, including a win in the Grade 2, Wicker Sofa Stakes, and a fast closing performance, to miss by a nose, in the Grade 1, Sand Castle Golden Sprint. He has also won his past 2, both minor stakes events.

This guy looks ready to fire on all cylinders, and sets up well here!At 9/1, this may be considered a steal!

A Major, Major Player, and the Real Deal!

PP#15DREAM ABOUT ME(KY)26/1

Trained By: desimster3

Residency: Blazing Saddles

This desimster3 trainee brings an impeccable pedigree to the dance (Storm Cat x Mr. Prospector x Nijinsky II), but also brings the fields smallest bankroll, at $84,295 in earnings. He comes from the clouds vs. allowance foes, but has shown a great deal of trouble against minor stakes fields.Just cant see this one near at the finish.

Must pass.

PP#16CHRONIC ADDICTION9/1

Trained BY: pjlracing

Residency: EAAA Racing

Chronic Addition is the #3 ranked older sprinter in the Sim, but as far as this race goeshes definitely the Now horse! His past two races, have been victories in both the Grade 1, Red Keep Special, and Grade 2, Sooner-Husker Stakes. In his two prior to that, he was stakes placed in Graded races. This son of Gone West, appears to be getting better with age, and should be a serious threat in his upcoming fall campaign.

If he keeps the form of his prior 2 races, he may be the one wearing the flowers at the finish!

PP#17HENNESSY TITANS11/1

Trained By: slewbetcha

Residency: CR Racers

This multiple Graded Placed son of Hennessy, has been quite impressive in his past 4 starts, hitting the board in each, including placings in both the Grade 2, Wicker Sofa Stakes, and the Grade 1, Sand Castle Golden Sprint. He should be expected to be sitting no more than a few lengths off of the pace setters, and if hes got his kick on today you may hear his name called a lot, in the stretch.

Has a real shot for some of this!

PP#18IN A SIMPLE RHYME13/1

Trained By: zewango4

Residency: DelPenn

This 5 year old son of Forty Niner, owns the largest bankroll of the field, at a whopping $1,858,966.This son of Forty Niner could possibly possess the most talent in this field when on. But the problem is, he seems to run a very nice race or two, and then follows it up with a clunker!Still good enough to rank as the #2 older sprinter in the game, and must always be feared!Yes, a major player indeed!

So weve looked over the field, and now we need to make our selections.Man, its tough enough to pick one in a short field of allowance runners, but now, in a field of 18 graded stakes horses???Yikes!

Well

After a great deal of studying and frustration, Ive decided on the following selections:

Win- CHRONIC ADDICTION 9/1

Place- VIKING RUSH 14/1

Show- LANNISTER GOLD 9/1

Best of luck to all Equinics participants today!
