The 2010 Equinics FAQS

What are the Equinics?
The Equinics are a player sponsored and coordinated day of races showcasing good horses representing the entire SIM family.
The Equinics consists of 16 races on the dirt and 16 races on the turf. Up to 20 horses may be entered, with each horse representing a managed track or Residency.
The Managed tracks participating in the 2010 Equinics are:

Pastures of Green

When are the 2010 Equinics?
Week 4225 - Feb 13, 2010.

What is the 2010 Equinics flow?
Mid Dec - Equinics are announced
End Dec - Residencies sign up
Jan - Residencies organize selection of their team
Feb - Lighting Of The Torch Ceremony
Feb 06 - (firm deadline) Residencies provide list of entries
Feb 07 - Passwords posted to race pages
Feb 12 - Opening Ceremonies
Feb 13 - Races Run
Feb 14 - Closing Ceremony

What is the Equinics' Theme?
Each year the organizers pick a theme for the Equinics. In 2006 it was "Jockeys". The theme for the 2008 Equinics was about charitable organizations and was named The Race For The Cure.
The 2010 Theme is "We Are The SIM" and reflects the global community that makes up the SIM world. In keeping with the theme races will be 'flagged' with flags from Countries, States, Regions, or Provinces. Track Managers, Major Financial Contributors, and Other Supporters of the Equinics will be asked to name a race and provide a flag for that race.

Are the races Grade I?
Yes.
This is a showcase day for SIM Residencies and in order to attract the highest level of competition possible it was decided to make all races Owner Restricted Grade I.

Where are the races being run?
The Equinics Turf races are always run in the equivalent Olympics host country. For 2010 that would be Track 69 BC. Dirt races are always run at the Equinics Host Track - Vermont.

How do I get involved with the Equinics?
Hmmm. Well, as of this writing, to the best of my knowledge, most tracks are accepting new residents. Check out the residencies on the Resident List under Misc, under Residencies in your stable page. Residencies will be looking for help putting together their Equinics Teams. Other ways of getting involved is to donate credits to the equinics account and contributing to the Special Equinics Edition put out by the BTB. You can also support the equinics residency with any unaffiliated stables.

How are the tracks picking their horses for the Equinics?
From what I can see they are all doing it a little differently, but there are two main methods: elimination races and selection committees. Check with your track manager for details. Residencies are solely responsible for fielding their team and determining eligibility for their residency.

What is the Equinics' Diary?
There will not be an Equinics Diary for the 2010 Equinics. This may return in 2012. If residencies wish to create an independent diary entry, or just write a blurb on their residency, please forward it to us and we will upload and link it.

How long does it take to put the Equinics together?
Well, a very long time. Coordination with up to 20 SIM entities; email back and forth with potential sponsors; graphics and webpage stuff; running our own elimination races; I don't know..maybe 20 minutes or so...

Is there anything else I should know?
I just want to re-emphasize the requirement to belong to a residency to participate in the Equinics, and that Track Managers have sole discretion in determining eligibility for their residency. Not every residency will participate, it is the track manager's decision. Not every residency will field a full team (ie. they may not enter a horse in every race). Other then that, if you have an unanswered question ask on the Main Board, or your Residency Board.

Listed below are the permanent conditions for the Summer and Winter versions of the SIM Equinics. (Note - the 2010 Equinics are WINTER races.)
Potential questions are: "Hey, there is not a condition for my star horse!!!!!"
My only possible response is: "I know."
